[ no it's totally genetic. miwako's gonna figure this out when she sees mom. mom wears white and dad wears black and poor will wound up with white and black clothes.
but it's true!! he needs to go through his own goth phase!! ]
Okay, okay, I'm coming. You know me. I won't argue.
[ he will trundle down to the studio as requested... at least he's always free... ]
well arashi's parents are punks and he's a punk so....\ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ/
and perfect, you know the address, just knock three times and a fairy will invite you in!
( unfortunately for will, miwako knew this very fact too well and was more than ready to take advantage of it— especially if it meant she got to make new clothes and push her skills to the limit. additionally he was rather petite and it made it easier to save money and time on tailoring or fixing anything.
while she waited for him to show up, she decided to brew a pot of tea and start pulling forth all the supplies she needed for this little endeavor. a styrofoam model figure for clothes pinning, a box full of threads and needles, an automatic sewing machine, and an endless array of black fabrics and other gothic accessories. the only things she wouldn't be making were his shoes and hat, but the makeup, if he allowed it, she would have him looking quite gothic a la mana.
when he finally did arrive, and if he was a good boy and knocked three times as requested, miwako would be behind the door waiting for him covered head to toe in lolita fashion. a pink jumperskirt from baby, a pair of rocking horse shoes, and a cute bunny pouch at her side. )
[ It's always fun to spend time with Miwako, for the exact reason that she'll get ideas like this and then tug Will along on a spontaneous excursion — and while he outwardly is the sort of quiet young man who seemingly prefers to read books and stay at home most of the time, the truth is that he likes these little adventures.
Since he's being called to her studio, he does have the faint suspicion that this is either going to end with him modeling clothing for her or having his measurements taken to make new ones, or both; purposely, he comes dressed in plainer, slim-fitting fashions that will be easier for him to take off or for her to measure him over them. He is indeed a good boy who knocks three times as requested.
Such a good boy, in fact, that he blinks in surprise when she's the one who answers the door, as if he wasn't expecting her, and then he laughs and smiles. ]
Oh, so Miwako is the fairy! That makes sense...
[ What did he expect? A real fairy? (Maybe he did expect a real fairy.) Bowing politely, as if in acknowledgment that he is entering her creative space, he steps into her studio and takes a look around. ]
I like the bunny bag you're wearing today. What have you been working on?
( there was never any true forcefulness or pressure from miwako when it came to things like this, perhaps it was why they got along so well. she would propose an idea, he would agree to it [or not], and she was more than happy to focus all of her attention on him if he allowed it.
of course she was painfully predictable even if her designs weren't- it was only natural to assume that he was here for a specific purpose given their conversation beforehand. )
Sorry Will, the real fairy was on vacation today so Miwako had to fill in accordingly~♡♡
( she will be imposing one thing onto him and that was a soft and loving embrace to her dearest friend. as soon as that was done, she led him out towards the main area of the studio. inside was a pool table, the piles of fabric, and of course a seat and table full of tea and treats for him to enjoy while she worked on him. )
Why thank you, I can make you one too if you'd like, but I have decided-
We are turning Will into the perfect goth prince. We'll surprise your parents with such a cool fit!
[ For a moment, Will just blinks with his large round eyes, owlish, uncomprehending.
Then he catches on. ]
H-Huh...? Me? But I, um...
[ Even as he starts to protest, he's very quickly realizing that he... doesn't really have reasons to protest. He's not against the idea of a change in style — his dad is that way, after all — but it's more like... well, why doesn't he dress that way, honestly?
For the same reasons that boys do not tend to dress like their fathers, really — his mother might have gently encouraged it in some ways, they're both reasonable parents who would not have put makeup on a toddler until he was older. And then, suddenly and many years later, their beloved child was old enough, but he was used to dressing in plainer, preppy styles, and somehow he'd never had the thought of touching his father's black lip gloss... or purple eyeshadow.
But! Miwako is going to change that today!
...Whether the stupid expression on Will's face changes or not! ]
I-I've never tried anything like that before... are you sure it'll look good on me?
[ His dad is cool! And handsome! And he's... also decently handsome, he knows that, but he's more cute than cool! ]
Not that that's a no! I'm interested, and I know you'll do a good job. They might be really amused... I think Mom will find it really cute...
( miwako truly was never the kind of person to impose upon others, only going far and high if the other person allowed. it was as if she truly was the sane one of her group of fashion designers, sewers, tailors who often would pull someone from the crowd and impose on them. with will, being a dear friend of hers, she could never really make him do anything he didn't want.
however as she began to pull forth the mannequin and some fabrics, she could sense and see some hesitation from him. it seemed to her that it was coming from a place of uncertainty about pulling off the look—
versus outright wanting her to stop. so she put down some of the items she had picked up and began to walk towards him. her expression was calm and full of warmth, and she moved slowly. when she finally reached him, her hands gently reached out for his to squeeze them with as much comfort as she could muster. )
Miwako thinks you'd look good in anything you'd like to wear. We don't have to go with goth if you don't want to, but I think your parents will without a doubt enjoy the change.
( with a tilt of her head, she gave him one last reassuring smile before pulling away and reaching for her bunny bag. once it was off of her, she held it out towards him. )
Here, hold usakumya for support! And please don't hesitate to tell me if something is too much.
[ Everything in the world is better when you have a big bunny bag to squeeze, and being nervous about a (temporary) style change is no exception. Will is more curious than nervous, however, so he gives Usakumya a big, confident squeeze and decides to forge forward. Miwako's reassuring demeanor certainly helps a lot, too! ]
No, no, it's okay. It won't be too much. I was just startled, that's all... but you're right. My father will be really happy to see it.
[ He figures he might need his hands free for this, though, so (after one more... emotional support squeeze...) he puts Usakumya on a chair at the tea table for now so that it, too, can enjoy the tea and snacks.
Actually, he would also like the tea and snacks, but he decides he should check and see if Miwako needs anything from him first. ]
Do you need me to do anything in particular right now? Or just... hold still while you take my measurements?
Perfect because there is just so much for you to try on and my mind is running wild with ideas.
( somewhere in the mess of everything was a sketchbook with a few doodles she had done between here and there-
possibly hinting that this had been an idea she's held onto for a while now. was she going to ever tell him outright? probably not, but the fact that he was here today just for her was enough to fuel all of her imagination and energy into making something unique and suitable for him.
as he placed the bag down, she moved towards the tray of tea and treats, serving them both up a cup of fragrant chestnut and rose tea, the warm steam wafting into the air. )
First of all, let's enjoy some treats. Then we can start the measuring process!
[ She really is very cute when she's gone into something with a plan. Will's eyes glance over her sketchbook as he passes it; sure enough, she's got some long-legged sketches of a model with hair that looks suspiciously like his, so this is possibly not as spontaneous as it seemed like it was at first blush.
Still, Will doesn't mind. There is, of course, something immensely flattering about being the focus of someone's creative vision. It's just funny that it just so happens that Will's dad is a silly middle-aged goth librarian. ]
Won't that throw off my measurements? Ah... but I guess any good garment has to leave room for tea and sweets.
[ Despite saying this, Will nevertheless sits down for tea and treats, smiling with a faintly murmured thank you as Miwako pours tea into his cup. He stirs it with a daintily provided teaspoon, less out of necessity and more for the experience, and then takes a sip of it. It's hot in the perfect way, and wonderfully fragrant, with a rose note that seems to sink warmly into his lungs.
He brightens once he's swallowed and everything sinks into his senses. ]

MIWAKO has an idea, and now you must come over to the studio. no arguing about it!
( don't mind her, she's just running around gathering all the black fabric she can find as they text. )
